The position involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. The individual in this role is expected to provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. This includes identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, and escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary. The role also entails monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and availability. Key responsibilities include performing network upgrades, routine hardware configuration, and incident ticket problem resolution. The individual will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and implement network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN. Administration of corporate network services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication is also a critical function. The position requires the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, ensuring that all changes and configurations are well-documented for future reference. Additional responsibilities encompass daily maintenance and problem resolution within the LAN/WAN environment, configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, and administering MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services. The individual will monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network problems, assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations, and present root cause analysis (RCA) for severity 1 incidents. The role may also involve performing other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the IT department.
