The Network Engineer III position is a critical role within Ryder's IT department, focusing on the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role is designed for an experienced professional who will serve as the third level of support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing complex end-user or site issues that exceed the capabilities of the service desk. The Network Engineer III will be responsible for identifying hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, escalating issues to the appropriate carrier or vendor as necessary to ensure timely resolution. In this position, the engineer will monitor and control infrastructure performance, focusing on key metrics such as response time, throughput, and availability. The role requires active participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation, ensuring that network services remain operational and efficient at all times. The engineer will implement network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN, and will be responsible for corporate network services administration, including DNS, DHCP, and authentication protocols. Additionally, the Network Engineer III will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, ensuring that all configurations and changes are well-documented for future reference. The role also involves daily maintenance and problem resolution within the LAN/WAN environment, configuring, testing, and maintaining network equipment, and presenting root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and performance of Ryder's network infrastructure, contributing to the overall success of the IT department and the organization as a whole.
