About the position

The Network Engineer III position at Ryder System involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role is critical as it serves as the third level of support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. The engineer will be responsible for identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary. Additionally, the position requires monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and overall availability. In this role, the engineer will engage in various essential functions, including network upgrades and routine hardware configuration. They will monitor and control network performance, remedy incident ticket problem resolutions, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. The implementation of network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN, is a key responsibility, along with the administration of corporate network services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication. The engineer will also be tasked with creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, ensuring that all changes and configurations are well-documented for future reference. Additional responsibilities include configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, administering MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services, and troubleshooting network problems. The engineer will assist in preparing proposals and solution presentations and will be expected to present root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents. Daily maintenance and problem resolution within the LAN/WAN environment are also part of the job, along with other duties as assigned.
