About the position

The Network Engineer III position is a critical role within the Technical Operations team, focusing on maximizing network performance and ensuring the reliability of data communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting network issues and outages, scheduling necessary upgrades, and collaborating with network support specialists to resolve issues and optimize the network. This role requires a proactive approach to network management, including participation in fault investigations in both LAN and WAN environments, utilizing information from various sources to identify and rectify problems effectively. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Network Engineer III will assist the communications manager in designing and implementing new network solutions. This includes documenting, developing, and enforcing area policies and procedures to maintain high standards of network operation. The role also emphasizes continuous professional development, encouraging participation in educational opportunities such as industry webcasts, conferences, and seminars to stay updated on current network trends. The position involves reporting real-time network health statistics and conducting post-event debriefings to analyze performance and identify areas for improvement. The engineer will be responsible for configuring routing and switching equipment, as well as hosted IP voice systems, and providing remote support as necessary to address and resolve issues. Regular liaison with system administrators, security administrators, end-users, third-party service providers, and division teammates is essential to ensure smooth operations and adherence to Vendor Management Policies and Procedures. The role may also involve cooperation with audit and examination processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting issues, and outages, scheduling necessary network upgrades
  • Collaborating with network support specialists to resolve issues and optimize the network
  • Assisting the communications manager with the design and implementation of new solutions
  • Participating in data network fault investigations in LAN and WAN environments
  • Assisting with the documentation, development, and enforcement of area policies and procedures
  • Updating industry knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of data communications experience in a Cisco environment
  • Financial services experience preferred
  • Recognize the importance of customer focus and servicing the needs of the end-user
  • Exhibit a focus on achieving results and reaching goals
  • Ability to communicate technical and network-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff
  • CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, or other equivalent certification
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in network administration, computer science, or information technology preferred
