About the position

The successful candidate will join the Core Network Engineering and Implementation team with responsibilities for engineering Client's new eNSE platform in the Pacific and North Central Markets. Being a part of the Network Build Team, you will assist with and perform implementation responsibilities throughout the central and western parts of the United States and work closely with the Implementation and Engineering teams to carry out our strategic technology goals and transition from VXLAN to the eNSE platform. This new network leverages virtualization and software defined networking to transform how we provide products and services while maintaining our position as the industry leader. Client is seeking a motivated and driven engineering professional who will assume responsibilities for engineering IP networking build projects and work closely with the Capacity Planning, Design and Operations teams to implement our strategic technology goals. The candidate will work to create an environment of teamwork and cooperation with all stakeholders including: territories, edge, and design. The Network Engineer's main responsibilities include writing technical and detailed Layer 1 equipment installation and fiber testing Method of Procedures (MOP), scheduling/tracking and correcting testing failures and working with local market team members throughout the United States to deploy and troubleshoot newly installed racked routers and switches in Client MSCs (Mobile Switching Centers). Develop network configurations from design models/templates by creating MOPs for Engineers to implement during network maintenance windows. Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches and related network equipment is essential, preferably with Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS), ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K, Juniper MX-480, MX-960. The candidate will work remotely with local operation team members throughout the United States to deploy and troubleshoot newly installed racked routers and switches into client data center locations. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and meet aggressive deployment dates and timelines. The candidate should have the ability to quickly adapt and learn new tasks and processes around deploying new routers and switches in a remote setting. Mentoring new team members when they join the group and introducing them to all aspects of the job is also a key responsibility. The candidate will utilize automated workflows to assist with device configuration and provide feedback on improvements. Additionally, the candidate will support client's strategic technology goals including the ongoing migration of core elements to the intelligent edge network, working on engineering and deploying directional networks for Intelligent Edge including but not limited to: SAP ENSE Fabric, Access ENSE fabric, ISP, NNI and 5G connectivity. Responsibilities also include engineering and creating network configurations for the onboarding of client's private cloud tenants, engineering IP edge networks at Service Aggregation Points (SAP) and Transport Aggregation Points (TAP), and building networks for interconnection to client Cloud Platforms (VCP) for growth, capacity and expansion.
