Our client is currently seeking a Network Engineer - III who will be responsible for the advanced configuration and operating system upgrades of carrier-class Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia equipment that tie together a complex, multivendor nationwide data network. The successful candidate will work on virtualization technologies in the Pacific and North Central Markets, assisting with implementation responsibilities for one or more COINs. This role requires close collaboration with the Implementation and Engineering teams to achieve strategic technology goals and transition from VXLAN to the eNSE platform. This new network leverages virtualization and software-defined networking to transform product and service delivery while maintaining industry leadership. The Network Engineer will work 3rd shift, 10-hour, 4-day work weeks (Tuesday-Friday mornings). Responsibilities include planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance window changes with various groups, implementing these changes during scheduled maintenance windows while adhering to corporate standards. Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, and related network equipment is essential, with a preference for Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS), ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K, and Juniper MX-480, MX-960. The role also involves implementing configuration changes for Intelligent Edge Networks, leveraging automation tools like Python, NSO, DCNM, VTS, Pronghorn, and Nuage. The engineer will be responsible for transport circuit turn-up/troubleshooting, working remotely with local operation team members throughout the United States to deploy and troubleshoot newly installed routers and switches in data center locations. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimum supervision, meet aggressive deployment dates, and adapt quickly to new tasks and processes. A solid understanding of networking technologies such as IPV6, L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPFv3, MPBGP, QOS/Traffic Engineering, MPLS, and VRFs is crucial. The engineer will also perform BAU maintenance work, utilize network monitoring tools, and engage in intra and interdepartmental communication to plan and prepare for maintenance activities.
