About the position

Our client is currently seeking a Network Engineer III in Owings Mills, MD. This position is 100% onsite and requires a full-time commitment. The Network Engineer III will be responsible for designing and implementing network infrastructure to ensure connectivity and stability of the company's network. This role involves analyzing security vulnerabilities and recommending solutions to protect the network against potential threats. The engineer will configure and maintain Cisco IOS devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls, and will work with Nexus switches and related technologies such as Virtual Port Channels (VPC) and Fabric Path. Additionally, the position requires configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, as well as working with switching technologies including VLANs, STP, EtherChannels, and Layer 2 and 3 switching.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement network infrastructure to ensure connectivity and stability of the company's network
  • Analyze security vulnerabilities and recommend solutions to protect the network against potential threats
  • Configure and maintain Cisco IOS devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Work with Nexus switches and related technologies such as Virtual Port Channels (VPC) and Fabric Path

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering
  • Experience with network cabling infrastructure design and installation
  • Strong knowledge of network security vulnerabilities and solutions
  • Experience with Cisco IOS devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Experience with Nexus switches and related technologies such as VPC and Fabric Path
  • Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Experience with switching technologies including VLANs, STP, Ether Channels, and Layer 2 and 3 switching
  • Network engineers typically have a Cisco CCNA and/or CCNP Certification
