The Network Engineer III position is a critical role within the Choctaw Nation's Information Technology department, focusing on supporting all aspects of Network LAN/WAN/Security/VoIP by designing necessary data connectivity solutions. This position requires a seasoned professional who possesses a comprehensive understanding of network engineering principles and practices. The Network Engineer will collaborate closely with other Network Engineers, Network System Administrators, and third-party vendors to ensure the network infrastructure is robust and efficient. Staying abreast of new technologies and solutions is essential, as the engineer will be expected to recommend improvements that can enhance the support provided to the Choctaw Nation Organization (CNO). Reporting directly to the Network Systems Manager, the engineer will play a pivotal role in aligning departmental projects with organizational goals. In this journey-level position, the Network Engineer III will tackle a variety of complex problems that necessitate a thorough evaluation of identifiable factors. The role demands creativity in problem-solving and the ability to select appropriate methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The engineer will be expected to communicate effectively within the IT department, translating technical challenges into understandable terms for stakeholders who may not be familiar with departmental concepts. This position also involves influencing departmental decisions on multiple issues related to network engineering specialties, contributing significantly to the overall impact on departmental objectives. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting Layer 3 solutions using routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP, as well as designing and implementing IP schemas for the enterprise. The engineer will configure various network devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers, and will also be responsible for troubleshooting and implementing WiFi/WLAN solutions. Additionally, the role involves configuring firewalls from vendors such as Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Checkpoint within the CNO environment. The Network Engineer III will also perform other tasks as assigned, ensuring that the network infrastructure remains secure and efficient.
