About the position

The Network Engineer (Infrastructure) position at V2X involves providing critical support for the management of infrastructure devices essential for various platforms and enterprise applications. The role requires administering the functions and capabilities of the infrastructure, which includes managing wing-level infrastructures, application configurations, traffic management, permissions management, and data structure management. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of the network by inspecting router and switch audit logs in accordance with Air Force (AF) and Department of Defense (DoD) standards, reporting any suspected security intrusions to the Network Operations Support (NOS) team immediately. In this role, the engineer will configure, install, and manage routers and switches within the Air National Guard (ANG) enterprise, as well as troubleshoot and manage wireless access points across all ANG wing locations. The position also involves administering and monitoring the Virtual Private Network (VPN), creating tunnels and certifications for personnel needing access, and ensuring compliance with DoD and AF policies during the installation of new devices. Additionally, the engineer will be tasked with configuring, installing, and troubleshooting Tactical Local Area Network Encryption (TACLANE) devices on the ANG SIPRNet, and providing technical expertise to manage, install, and administer the ANG Enterprise Network Voice, Video, and Voice over IP solutions. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of Air Force and ANG network systems and processes, as well as the ability to provide enterprise-level architectural design and modification recommendations to enhance, migrate, and secure the ANG Wide Area Network. The position is integral to maintaining the security and efficiency of the network infrastructure, ensuring that all systems function optimally and securely.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the router / switch audit logs IAW AF and DoD standards for suspected security intrusions or violations and report any suspected intrusions to the NOS immediately.
  • Configure, install, and manage routers and switches within the ANG enterprise.
  • Work with Wire Shark or other related packet analyzers.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and manage ANG enterprise wireless access points at all ANG wing locations.
  • Administer and monitor the Virtual Private Network (VPN), creating tunnels and certifications for all personnel needing access.
  • Install new devices ensuring compliance with DoD and AF policies and assist in the development and review of technical solutions involving the VPN.
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot Tactical Local Area Network Encryption (TACLANE) devices on the ANG SIPRNet.
  • Provide technical expertise to manage, install and administer the ANG Enterprise Network Voice, Video and Voice over IP solutions.
  • Provide enterprise level architectural design and modification recommendations to enhance, migrate, and secure the ANG Wide Area Network.
  • Understand Air Force and ANG network systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a related technical field preferred.
  • Current Security+ CE or CISSP Certification.
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with Active DoD Secret level (or higher) Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of three (3) years work related professional IT experience commensurate with tasks outlined in this service area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with creating and maintaining detailed Visio drawings.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Prime with demonstrated ability to monitor and maintain Cisco routers and switches and provide reports.
  • Knowledge of basic routing technologies.
  • Knowledge of IT governance and operations.
  • Familiarity implementing DISA STIGs.
