The Network Engineer position at Atrium Health involves configuring, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems within an enterprise Cisco environment. The engineer will also manage Quality of Service (QoS) settings, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and implement wireless LAN controllers, utilizing wireless survey tools to ensure optimal performance. In addition to technical skills, the position demands a proactive approach to monitoring system performance and taking necessary actions to maintain the technical performance of network systems that support the Atrium enterprise, which encompasses hospitals, medical office buildings, physician practices, and administrative offices. The engineer will collaborate with multiple IS departments and vendors to ensure stable and reliable network connectivity, implementing designed network solutions while understanding the implications of potential issues within Information Services. The role requires the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, accepting guidance from colleagues and demonstrating strong problem-solving skills under pressure. The engineer will also assist in process improvement initiatives and must be capable of executing project plans for network system implementations. The position may require evening and weekend hours for system conversions, and the engineer must be available for callback support on a regular basis. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 35 lbs, and the role does not involve direct patient contact.
