About the position

As a Network Engineer Intermediate at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity, particularly in supporting the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). This position is integral to enhancing the systems that matter most, ensuring that today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. You will be at the forefront of innovation, working under the guidance of a Senior Network Engineer to complete various tasks that are essential for maintaining and improving network operations. Your responsibilities will include installing, configuring, and supporting local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other data communication systems. You will maintain network hardware and software, monitor network availability, and perform necessary maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, you will provide support for projects involving networks and assist in translating business requirements into telecommunications needs, including LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice, and Video requirements. In this role, you will analyze user requirements and high-level system architectures to develop network specifications. You will guide users in formulating their requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies. Your technical leadership will be vital in integrating network requirements, design, and technology, as well as developing network architecture and design documentation. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting complex network problems and managing the transition and migration of networks. Ultimately, you will ensure the technical integrity of the work performed and deliverables associated with the Network Engineering area of responsibility, communicating effectively with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks assigned by Senior Network Engineer.
  • Install, configure, and support an organization's LAN, WAN, Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet, and Internet.
  • Maintain network hardware and software; monitor network to ensure availability to all system users.
  • Provide support to projects that involve networks and assist in translating business requirements into telecommunications requirements.
  • Analyze user's requirements and develop network requirements specifications.
  • Guide users in formulating requirements and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Analyze network requirements and capacity; lead design and development activities.
  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of network requirements, design, and technology.
  • Incorporate new network plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
  • Develop network architecture and design documentation.
  • Guide network development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of network engineering management plans.
  • Design and perform integration of new technologies into local and wide area networks.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex network problems.
  • Manage the transition and migration of networks and development of network addressing schemes.
  • Interact with the Government regarding Network Engineering technical considerations and associated problems.
  • Communicate with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related experience in network engineering.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Education: Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience.
  • Required Skillset: Assist with research and implementation of enterprise system-wide network solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure and/or components.
  • Evaluate and monitor health and performance of the network including hardware and management software.
  • Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades.

Nice-to-haves
