About the position

As a Network Engineer Intermediate at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in supporting the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) by ensuring the integrity and efficiency of network systems. This position involves working under the general supervision of a Senior Network Engineer to install, configure, and maintain various network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other data communication systems. You will be responsible for monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing necessary maintenance to ensure network availability for all users. Your responsibilities will also include providing support for projects that involve network systems, translating business requirements into telecommunications needs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will be tasked with the installation and operational support of voice and data communications hardware and software systems, as well as designing, developing, and maintaining communication systems. Additionally, you will perform configurations of operating systems and security patches, implement incident response procedures during security breaches, and ensure the technical integrity of all work performed. In this role, effective communication with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives is essential. You will analyze and evaluate network performance, identify issues, and provide solutions to enhance operational efficiency. As a lead in systems engineering activities, you will define all aspects of network development, from mission needs analysis to performance verification, ensuring the efficient delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards. You will also manage the transition and migration of networks and interact with government representatives regarding technical considerations and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks assigned by Senior Network Engineer.
  • Install, configure, and support local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other data communications systems.
  • Maintain network hardware and software; monitor network availability and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Provide support for projects involving networks and translate business requirements into telecommunications requirements.
  • Install and operationally support voice and data communications hardware and software systems.
  • Design, develop, implement, test, debug, and maintain communications systems.
  • Perform configuration of operating system and security patches; implement incident response procedures during security breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and agency standards.
  • Communicate effectively with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
  • Analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions for efficient operation.
  • Act as lead in defining and executing systems engineering activities within a project.
  • Manage the transition and migration of networks and develop network addressing schemes.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience.
  • Required Skillset: Assist with research and implementation of enterprise system-wide network solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure and components.
  • Evaluate and monitor health and performance of the network including hardware and management software.
  • Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation for network configuration upgrades.
  • Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI.
  • Required Certification(s): DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment Certification required prior to support on contract.
  • IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent.
  • Required Computing Environment Certification: CCNA.
