The engineer will also lead training sessions in specialized areas of network work for other team members, fostering inter-team collaboration to identify and address process and technology gaps. The role requires strong leadership skills, as the engineer will be responsible for communicating with senior leadership on high-priority issues, participating in strategy and architectural design sessions, and representing networking at change and architecture review boards. Vendor relations are also a key aspect of the position, as the engineer will work with equipment vendors and circuit carriers to improve network capacity, redundancy, and resiliency. Documentation is another critical component of this role, where the engineer will define documentation standards, create repeatable resolutions to common problems, and manage the process of socializing these resolutions with lower support tiers. The Lead Network Engineer will also be involved in after-hours support, participating in on-call rotations and leading troubleshooting efforts for high-priority incidents.
