About the position

Charter Communications Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer IV to join our team in Englewood, CO. This position is crucial for testing and validating Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The successful candidate will evaluate product and technical requirements, providing essential feedback to Product, Architecture, and other partner teams. The role involves developing comprehensive test plans, documenting processes, and executing tests to validate network performance and functionality. In this position, you will establish and troubleshoot test network environments to facilitate device testing and qualification. You will perform system-wide end-to-end integration and regression testing, documenting test results meticulously and reviewing them with designated teams and vendors. Your participation in weekly bug classification and work prioritization activities will be vital in maintaining the quality of our network services. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will partner with equipment manufacturers to resolve issues discovered during testing and development. Additionally, you will work closely with operations teams to implement solutions identified in the lab environment. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating and distributing root cause analysis, field engineering bulletins, and "reason for outage" documentation. Training operations teams in support of these documents will also be part of your responsibilities. As a mentor, you will train junior engineers on new testing methodologies and provide technical guidance to team members. You will also provide automation requirements to development teams to enhance team efficiency. Participation in the technical evaluation and selection of engineering personnel will be expected, along with monitoring certification life-cycle progress and intervening or escalating issues when necessary. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for both in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Test and validate Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).
  • Evaluate product and technical requirements to provide feedback to Product, Architecture, and other partner teams.
  • Perform test plan development, documentation, evaluation, and execution.
  • Establish and troubleshoot test network environments to facilitate device testing and qualification.
  • Perform system-wide end-to-end integration and regression testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience validating networks using Wireshark and iPerf.
  • Experience enabling high-bandwidth data transmission and troubleshooting network issues.
