About the position

The Network Engineer - IV position is a contract role based in Southlake, TX, focusing on supporting the Core Network Engineering team within the South Central and South East Markets. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in integrating and managing a Leaf-and-Spine network fabric, primarily utilizing Cisco and Nokia SR-OS technologies. This position requires a strong technical background, particularly with CCIE certification or an equivalent level of expertise, to effectively contribute to the team's strategic technology goals, including the migration of core network elements to the eNSE platform and the onboarding of Virtual Network Functions (VNFs). In this role, you will collaborate closely with various teams, including Capacity Planning, Design, and Operations, to ensure that new networks are built, migrated, and decommissioned efficiently. You will be responsible for developing network configurations based on design models and templates, as well as building networks that interconnect with the client's Cloud Platforms to support growth and expansion. The position also involves working with underlay and overlay controllers for network creation, modeling, and deployments, leveraging plugins for network deployments across multiple virtualized operating systems. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience in data networking and telecommunications, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a service provider or large enterprise network environment. A solid understanding of various networking technologies, including VXLAN, EVPN, L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPF, ISIS, MP-BGP, and MPLS, is essential. Additionally, any experience with cloud technologies and scripting languages such as Linux, OpenStack, Python, and automation tools like Ansible will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Core Network Engineering team in the South Central and South East Markets.
  • Assist in integrating the Leaf-and-Spine network fabric.
  • Collaborate with Capacity Planning, Design, and Operations teams to implement strategic technology goals.
  • Support the migration of core elements to the eNSE network fabric platform.
  • Onboard Virtual Network Functions (VNFs).
  • Develop network configurations from design models and templates.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to build, migrate, and decommission networks.
  • Build networks for interconnection to client's Cloud Platforms for growth and expansion.
  • Work with underlay and overlay controllers for network creation and deployments.
  • Leverage plugins for network deployments across multiple virtualized OS environments.
  • Engineer network solutions and interact with application teams.

Requirements

  • CCIE certification or equivalent level is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience in data networking and telecommunications.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data networking and telecommunications, preferably in a service provider or large enterprise network environment.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Nokia (Alcatel Lucent) routers, switches, and related network equipment, including Nokia ALU 7750 SR1s/7s and 7250 IXR with SR-OS.
  • Experience with Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS), ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K.
  • Solid understanding of networking technologies such as VXLAN, EVPN, L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPF, ISIS, MP-BGP, BGP-LU, QOS/Traffic Engineering, and MPLS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud technologies and scripting (Linux, OpenStack, Python).
  • Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible and virtualization.
