About the position

The Network Engineer position at DXC Technology is a critical role that involves leading and coordinating the maintenance of complex network hardware and systems. This position is based on-site in Hartford, CT, and requires a hands-on approach to investigate and resolve significant network and hardware issues. The engineer will be responsible for researching, analyzing, isolating, and resolving errors while assessing and evaluating both current and future systems to ensure optimal performance. In this role, the Network Engineer will provide technical support and guidance on network design issues, offering problem resolution for complex challenges to less experienced personnel. The engineer will design appropriate testing routines or scripts and may conduct more complex testing to meet specified requirements. Additionally, the position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining more complex LAN, WLAN, or DDI systems in accordance with specified requirements. The engineer will analyze data network documentation and assist in communicating the current operational status of networks to management. They will determine methods and procedures for new data technologies to ensure performance and will provide consultation, support, and guidance to organizations and clients. This may include developing and conducting training as needed. The role also requires participation in discussions regarding project decisions and project direction at the executive level, managing client expectations, and balancing the needs of the organization and clients to ensure satisfaction. Furthermore, the Network Engineer will prepare proposal documentation to meet customer requirements and recommend data network investment decisions based on independent assessments of current and future network performance, stability, and management issues. The position also involves performing cost analyses and vendor comparisons to ensure cost-effective operations and providing leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the maintenance of complex network hardware and systems.

Requirements

  • Must comply with ITAR regulations and have a valid indefinite US Work Permit.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred.
  • More than 10 years of hands-on experience in networks.
  • Proficient in Cisco Systems, including switching (layer 2 and 3), spanning tree, routing, InfoBlox DDI, wireless, Cisco ISE, and TCP/UDP IP Protocol.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking is an asset.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, change management, and problem management.
  • Experience working with network systems, networking principles, and proprietary software and hardware.
