About the position

The Network Engineer or Network Infrastructure Engineer or Network Administrator position is primarily focused on infrastructure and network security engineering. The role is structured to allocate 80% of the work to lab environments and 20% to production support. In the lab, the engineer will be responsible for the installation and deinstallation of network equipment, conducting tests, and documenting the network environments. This includes working with various network devices such as firewalls, switches, and routers. In the production environment, the engineer will create configurations based on lab testing results and ensure that these configurations are successfully deployed in the live environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of network architectures, including the roles of routers, switches, firewalls, and application delivery controllers. They should possess robust troubleshooting skills, particularly in Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 troubleshooting. The position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked with Keysight products. Familiarity with F5 firewalls and Juniper devices is also advantageous. The role demands a proactive approach to network security, with a focus on testing firewalls in a production environment and ensuring the integrity of network configurations. Candidates should be prepared to lift equipment weighing between 20 to 50 pounds, as the role involves handling large caches and blades associated with F5 firewalls. The position is a contract role lasting 12 months, with a hybrid working model requiring three days a week on-site in Branchburg, New Jersey. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct installation and deinstallation of network equipment in lab environments.
• Perform testing and documentation of network environments.
• Create configurations based on lab testing for production deployment.
• Maintain and implement firewall configurations and security measures.
• Troubleshoot network issues across Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3.
• Support production environments with network configuration and management.
• Utilize network management tools for monitoring and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in network engineering or administration.
• Experience with F5 firewalls and Layer 1, 2, and 3 troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of network architectures including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• 1-2 years of experience with Juniper SRX and F5 firewalls or similar devices.
• Experience with configuring basic routing and switching, preferably using Nokia, Juniper, or Cisco.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Keysight/Ixia BreakingPoint traffic simulators.
• Scripting and automation experience.
• Familiarity with virtualization and network management tools.
