About the position

As a Network Engineer - Power Systems (OT) at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc., you will provide expert technical support and automation solutions for power systems. Your role will involve teaching and advising customers to ensure the reliability and safety of power grids, while also contributing to product specifications and participating in marketing and sales activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical support for power system automation solutions.
  • Teach, advise, and support customers to ensure the reliability and safety of power grids.
  • Maintain and improve knowledge of power systems communications including fiber links, radio connections, and IP systems.
  • Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, and training courses.
  • Apply principles and concepts to provide solutions to various problems.
  • Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature.
  • Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities, industry technical meetings, and conferences.
  • Support SEL products and solution troubleshooting to identify root causes of problems.
  • Contribute to and write white papers, application guides, and technical papers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with power system automation and controls.
  • Experience with wired protection and control network communications systems, including TDM and Ethernet technologies.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic, microwave, and spread-spectrum radio communications.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
