The position is responsible for the engineering, design, and topology of the credit union's multi-layered network and security infrastructure. This includes administering, planning, and managing the configuration, installation, and maintenance of the credit union's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), firewall, and content analysis infrastructure and equipment. The role involves monitoring and managing LAN/WAN performance trends and making recommendations for improvements. The individual will participate in day-to-day technical installation, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of virtual private networks and third-party interfaces. Additionally, the position assists in evaluating and acquiring new infrastructure technologies, equipment, and systems, and manages disaster recovery plans for data, circuits, and firewall configurations. Other related duties may be assigned as needed. The essential duties include designing, configuring, and testing networking topology, monitoring and administration software, networking hardware, and associated operating systems. The individual will maintain redundant network communications to multiple branch offices and the Co-Location, as well as manage the network load balancer, internet proxy, and various network appliances. The role also requires administering multi-layered security controls, troubleshooting internet-related communication issues, and ensuring the network infrastructure is protected from potential malware and viruses. The position oversees the Network Administrator and Network Specialist in the research, analysis, evaluation, and assessment required for the purchase and implementation of network hardware and software. As a lead on network and firewall infrastructure projects, the individual will work closely with the Information Security team to install security patches and firmware, ensuring proper security measures are in place. Responsibilities also include monitoring and trending network and firewall performance, creating implementation procedure requests for new or enhanced network infrastructure services, and analyzing and resolving network problems and application access issues. The position requires programming changes on a large, complex network communications switch system and performing day-to-day administration, maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, repair, and support of network, firewall, and VoIP communications systems and equipment. The individual will coordinate technical network and telecommunications infrastructure planning to ensure appropriate automated system connections to all credit union branches and facilities, troubleshoot and identify causes of systems and equipment problems, and maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through educational workshops and professional associations.
