About the position

KBR is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer (Secret Clearance) to join our dynamic IT Team in Quantico, VA. In this role, you must possess a deep understanding of network infrastructure, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of managing and optimizing complex network environments. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and the ability to lead network-related projects while ensuring the highest levels of performance, security, and reliability. This is a full-time on-site position in Quantico, VA. As a Network Engineer, you will assist with the development and implementation of the network infrastructure connecting Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems. You will design, implement, and manage enterprise-level network solutions, including LAN, WAN, and VPN. Your responsibilities will include monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing network optimization to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network integration with other IT systems and applications, and develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. In this role, you will evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance network performance and security. You will lead network-related projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to best practices and project deadlines. Conducting network assessments and providing recommendations for improvements based on analysis will also be part of your duties. Additionally, you will implement and manage network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats, while staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance network performance and security.
  • Leads network-related projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to best practices and project deadlines.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-15 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing large-scale network infrastructures.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VLANs).
  • Understanding of DOD policy and equipment associated with establishing networks on the Secret/MTEN Black network.
  • Proficiency with network management tools and monitoring systems.
  • Hands-on experience with network security practices and technologies (e.g., VPNs, IDS/IPS, firewalls).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve network issues promptly.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, CISSP) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with network automation and orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).
  • Experience in a similar industry or organization with complex network environments.
