About the position

The Network Engineer Senior Principal at SAIC will provide engineering expertise to support, maintain, develop, and test existing and new communications systems for NIWC PAC, specifically focusing on Submarine Communications Systems. This role requires a high level of network engineering expertise, system administration, and testing support, with a strong emphasis on hands-on networking skills and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the analysis and engineering of network systems.
• Develop system architecture and design for communications systems.
• Conduct interface and data architecture validation and verification.
• Perform systems integration and operational performance analysis.
• Document and maintain lab systems and provide testing support.
• Provide status updates on progress to the customer.
• Troubleshoot and build networks from diagrams.
• Document networks with layer 2 and layer 3 diagrams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering.
• 10 years or more relevant experience in network engineering.
• Experience in network monitoring, management, and control.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to establish equipment configurations for operational requirements.
• Experience in Network WAN Design including Firewall configuration and integration.
• Experience with backup and restoring systems.
• Ability to design and implement network architecture.
• Strong computer and networking skills with knowledge of military and commercial standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Current Security+ certification within 6 months.
• Experience in Hyper-converged architectures.
• Experience with fundamentals of Networking and Firewalls.
• VMWare Certified Professional.
• 6 years of hands-on experience translating requirements into network design.
• MBSE experience preferred.
• Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) for network equipment lockdown.
• Knowledge of NETSEC directives compliance.
