About the position

As a Network Engineer Senior at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity, particularly in the realm of enterprise IT. Your primary responsibility will be to connect and enhance the systems that are vital to the operations of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance, and you will be at the forefront of innovation, ensuring that today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of various network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and the Agency Internet Network (AIN). Your role will involve maintaining network hardware and software, monitoring network availability, and performing necessary maintenance to support network operations. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will oversee the network control center and provide support for projects involving networks. You will be tasked with performing complex network designs that encompass multiple technologies, evaluating new network technologies, and making recommendations for their integration into existing systems. Your expertise will be essential in planning new configurations and ensuring effective integration and optimal performance of the network. You will also be responsible for developing network architecture and design documentation, guiding network development and implementation planning, and providing advanced troubleshooting for complex network issues. Your leadership will extend to mentoring junior and mid-level network engineers, ensuring that they are equipped to handle the demands of the role. You will interact with government personnel regarding technical considerations and will have ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of the work performed in the Network Engineering area. This position requires a proactive approach to analyzing user requirements and developing network specifications that meet the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, and support of LAN, WAN, AIN, Intranet, and Internet systems.
  • Maintaining network hardware and software; monitoring network availability and performing necessary maintenance.
  • Supervising other network support and client server specialists; planning and implementing network security measures.
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level network engineers.
  • Overseeing the network control center and supporting network-related projects.
  • Performing complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies.
  • Evaluating new network technologies and making integration recommendations.
  • Planning new configurations for network integration and optimal performance.
  • Developing network architecture and design documentation.
  • Providing advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex network issues.
  • Managing the transition and migration of networks and developing network addressing schemes.
  • Interacting with government personnel regarding technical considerations and issues.
  • Ensuring the technical integrity of work performed in the Network Engineering area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience or Master's Degree with 10 years of experience.
  • 10+ years of related experience in network engineering.
  • Required certifications: DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment Certification, Security+ or equivalent, CCNA to start and CCNP within 180 days of start date.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Experience in data communication, network design, and telecommunication systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements.
