About the position

As a Network Engineer Senior at GDIT, you will play a pivotal role in transforming technology into opportunity, particularly in the realm of enterprise IT. Your primary responsibility will be to connect and enhance the systems that are crucial for the operations of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance, and you will be at the forefront of innovation, ensuring that today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of various network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and the Agency Internet Network (AIN). You will maintain network hardware and software, monitor network availability, and perform necessary maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, you may supervise other network support specialists and provide leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers. Your duties will also include overseeing the network control center, supporting projects involving networks, and performing complex network designs that encompass multiple technologies. You will evaluate new network technologies and make recommendations for their integration into existing systems. Furthermore, you will analyze user requirements, develop network specifications, and guide users in formulating their needs. Your technical leadership will be crucial in integrating network requirements, designs, and technologies into ongoing operations. The position also involves advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex network issues, managing the transition and migration of networks, and ensuring the technical integrity of all work performed. You will communicate with government personnel regarding technical considerations and be responsible for delivering high-quality network engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, and support of LAN, WAN, AIN, Intranet, and Internet systems.
  • Maintain network hardware and software; monitor network availability and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Supervise other network support and client server specialists; provide leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Oversee network control center and support projects involving networks.
  • Perform complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies within a single network.
  • Evaluate new network technologies and recommend integration into existing networks.
  • Plan new configurations for integration into the network, ensuring effective integration and optimal performance.
  • Develop network architecture and design documentation; guide network development and implementation planning.
  • Design and perform integration of new technologies into local and wide area networks.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex network problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience or Master's Degree with 10 years of experience.
  • 10+ years of related experience in network engineering and telecommunications.
  • Required certifications: DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment Certification, Security+ or equivalent, CCNA to start and CCNP within 180 days of start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for agency networks.
  • Familiarity with network engineering management plans and network integration and test plans.
