About the position

As a Network Engineer Senior at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity, particularly in the realm of enterprise IT. Your primary responsibility will be to connect and enhance the systems that are vital to the operations of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance, and you will be at the forefront of innovation, ensuring that today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of various network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and the Agency Internet Network (AIN). You will maintain network hardware and software, monitor network availability, and perform necessary maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, you may supervise other network support specialists and provide leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers. Your expertise will be essential in overseeing the network control center and supporting projects that involve complex network designs across multiple technologies. You will analyze user requirements and develop network specifications, guiding users in formulating their needs and conducting feasibility studies. Your technical leadership will be vital in integrating network requirements, designs, and technologies into ongoing operations. You will also be responsible for developing network architecture and design documentation, managing the transition and migration of networks, and providing advanced troubleshooting for complex network issues. Your role will require effective communication with government personnel regarding technical considerations and ensuring the technical integrity of all deliverables associated with network engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, and support of LAN, WAN, AIN, Intranet, and Internet systems.
  • Maintain network hardware and software; monitor network availability and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Supervise other network support and client server specialists; provide leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Oversee network control center and support projects involving complex network designs.
  • Evaluate new network technologies and recommend integration into existing networks.
  • Plan new configurations for network integration, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Develop network architecture and design documentation.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex network problems.
  • Manage the transition and migration of networks and develop network addressing schemes.
  • Communicate with government personnel regarding technical considerations and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience or Master's Degree with 10 years of experience.
  • 10+ years of related experience in network engineering.
  • Required certifications: DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment Certification, Security+ or equivalent, CCNA to start and CCNP within 180 days of start date.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves
