About the position

The Senior Network Engineer position is critical for ensuring that the network infrastructure is designed to meet the current and evolving needs of the organization. As a Global Assessment of Information Technology (GAIT) engineer, you will leverage your extensive experience in network design and architecture to craft solutions that support national defense initiatives. This role involves upgrading and developing enterprise-wide infrastructure, troubleshooting complex network issues, and enhancing the security, reliability, and availability of mission-critical network systems. You will be responsible for analyzing existing infrastructures and implementing improvements that align with the organization's strategic goals. In this position, you will apply your expertise in various networking technologies, including routing and switching, encryption integration, and network transport layers. Your knowledge of multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocols, and virtual routing will be essential as you work alongside a team of problem-solvers dedicated to evolving and deploying new capabilities for the Department of Defense (DoD). You will also serve as a trusted advisor to clients, utilizing your technical curiosity and understanding of industry standards to optimize operations and drive modernization efforts. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing network outages or degradation, ensuring that remediation is executed swiftly and effectively. Your familiarity with tactical network architecture and IP networking processes will be crucial in this capacity. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain a high level of information assurance, configuring and troubleshooting various security devices and protocols to protect sensitive data and systems. Responsibilities

  • Develop and upgrade enterprise-wide network infrastructure to meet evolving needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues to ensure operational continuity.
  • Analyze current network infrastructures and implement improvements for security and reliability.
  • Apply expertise in routing, switching, and encryption integration to enhance network performance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on mission-critical network projects.
  • Identify and remediate network outages or degradation in a timely manner.
  • Configure and troubleshoot security devices and protocols to maintain information assurance.

Requirements

  • Experience with identifying baseband networking functions in tactical formations of the WIN-T network.
  • Experience with assessing and triaging network outages and executing remediation.
  • Knowledge of Tactical Network architecture and IP networking processes.
  • Knowledge of NetOps, including VMware vSphere 6 and various NetOps applications.
  • Knowledge of information assurance and configuration of Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Knowledge of CNNA Voice and CCNP Voice certifications.
  • Ability to operate encryption devices, including KG-175A and KG-175D model TACLANEs.
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a technical position within a Division, Corps, or Corps Net Ops or Engineering Team.
  • Knowledge of routing functions and troubleshooting of various protocols including BGP and OSPF.
  • Bachelor's degree.
