About the position

Falconwood, Inc. is a woman and veteran-owned business that specializes in providing executive-level consultants and programmatic support to Department of Defense (DoD) Information Technology (IT) initiatives and programs. We are currently seeking a Senior Cloud Network Engineer who will be instrumental in leading our initiatives to ensure the highest levels of network reliability, security, and performance. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of modern networking technologies, particularly in the areas of next-generation security and Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN). The Senior Cloud Network Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and optimization of our advanced networking solutions, which are critical to our operations and the services we provide to our clients. In this role, the Senior Cloud Network Engineer will participate in network modernization planning, demonstrating a comprehensive technical understanding of modern network designs and architectures. The engineer will lead the design and architecture of Naval Enterprise Networks, ensuring that these networks are scalable, redundant, and optimized for performance. Utilizing cloud-based Arista networking solutions, the engineer will deliver capabilities to the network and its users, while also applying DevSecOps principles to securely deliver network engineering configurations. This position also involves providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their growth and development within the organization. Collaboration with vendors will be essential, as the Senior Cloud Network Engineer will evaluate and select networking equipment and technologies that align with customer objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong emphasis on cloud networking, with at least 8 years of hands-on experience in the field, and will be expected to have expert-level knowledge of routing and switching, as well as familiarity with various network management tools. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Falconwood, Inc. continues to provide top-tier IT solutions to the DoD and other clients, maintaining our commitment to excellence in service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in network modernization planning and demonstrate a deep technical understanding of modern network designs and architectures.
  • Lead the design and architecture of Naval Enterprise Networks, ensuring scalability, redundancy, and optimal performance.
  • Use cloud-based Arista networking solutions and processes to deliver capabilities to the network and its users.
  • Use DevSecOps principles to securely deliver network engineering configurations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and select networking equipment and technologies that align with customer objectives.

Requirements

  • Must have a DoD 8570.01-M, IAT level 2 certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience as a network engineer, with a strong emphasis on cloud networking.
  • Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching.
  • Experience with Arista Cloud Vision solution.
  • Familiarity with various network management tools: NNMi, Netscout, HPNA, and Aternity.
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting next-generation security products with vendors, such as Palo Alto, Juniper.
  • Experience with Azure Express Route, Virtual Private Clouds (VPC), and other cloud networking services.
  • In-depth understanding of network security principles and practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Palo Alto PCNSE certification preferred.
