Senior Network Engineers are responsible for research, architecture, design, installation, integration, support, and optimization on a wide variety of technologies as a part of the information technology infrastructure and application environment. They design and implement high-performing, highly available systems to meet the customers' functional and cost requirements as defined in the service level and/or operation level agreements. This role involves participating and often leading work on new project installations, system/infrastructure upgrades, and system/infrastructure performance management. Senior Network Engineers also participate in project leadership by documenting system scope and defining implementation procedures, while driving best practices throughout the system. They are tasked with solving complex problems, given the limitations of resources, processes, and technology. Staff members in this position are expected to be effective and self-sufficient in working within a diverse technology portfolio, regularly providing guidance and training to less experienced systems engineers. In this role, Senior Network Engineers work with customer specifications and budgets to develop both critical and non-critical systems that are part of the Corewell Health technology infrastructure. They take ownership of technical risk assessments of system readiness for operational turnover and research emerging technologies, standards, and system trends that align with customer requirements and Digital Services (DS) architectural standards related to assigned projects, support responsibilities, or strategic initiatives. They provide technology leadership for project planning and execution, related to system architecture, design, integration, testing, and implementation. Leading cross-functional teams, they analyze system requirements and constraints to engineer technical solutions that meet the needs of the business across multiple dimensions. They design solutions that can be operationally implemented and supported within current organizational structures or define new operational and support structures. As a project team member, they are accountable for project tasks, schedules, change control, and project-related status reports. They coordinate work with team members to ensure successful delivery of all technical aspects of assigned projects for themselves and others. Additionally, they take ownership of the operational support for assigned systems, leading the creation of written support documentation and facilitating knowledge transfer between teams and individuals involved in support. They are accountable for the resolution of implementation and support issues, leading collaboration with support teams to troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents and problems using established DS procedures for problem and situation management. They also lead efforts in the creation of relevant technical and support documentation and effectively communicate status and resolution plans to leadership for complex technology issues. Maintaining knowledge of end-user devices and integration with equipment, networking concepts (such as TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, DHCP), Windows Server and Desktop platforms, Enterprise Directories, storage subsystems, and relational databases is also a key aspect of this role.
