About the position

As a Senior Network Engineer at CACI, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and performance of our network systems. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting thorough packet analysis to identify necessary hardware, software, and networking changes required to restore service and meet operational requirements. You will be tasked with identifying the root causes of complex network issues and implementing appropriate corrective actions. This role requires you to update documentation and provide written recommendations aimed at preventing recurring problems, thereby enhancing the overall reliability of our network infrastructure. In addition to troubleshooting, you will proactively monitor network performance and recommend improvements to resolve or prevent potential issues. You will ensure that the Local Area Network (LAN) and all network equipment comply with configuration management and security standards as mandated by federal regulations. Collaboration with the Team Lead will be essential, as you will offer recommendations and explore options to improve system performance and security standards. Your expertise in Cisco networking will be vital in enhancing network operations and support. You will also be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), firewalls, network monitoring tools, and tunnels. This position requires on-call availability and occasional travel, although it is not a remote position. Candidates must be based in the Rome, NY or Omaha, NE area and must possess an active TS/SCI clearance prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough packet analysis to identify necessary hardware, software, and networking changes.
  • Identify the root cause of complex network issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Update documentation and provide written recommendations to prevent recurring problems.
  • Proactively monitor network performance and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure LAN and network equipment adhere to configuration management and security standards.
  • Collaborate with the Team Lead to improve system performance and security standards.
  • Utilize Cisco networking knowledge to enhance network operations and support.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, and network monitoring tools.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferably in Network Engineering.
  • Security+ or 8140 equivalent and Cisco: CCNA, CCNP Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related network engineering experience.
  • Strong experience in IP addressing, VPN configuration, and remote access support.
  • Experience with building, migrating, and upgrading firewalls and switches across LAN and WAN configurations.
  • Ability to maintain build documents, network drawings, and data flow diagrams.
  • Implementation of federal security standards in production environments.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional attitude and commitment to providing high-quality service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the DoD or US military preferred but not required.
  • RHEL/Linux experience preferred but not required.
