About the position

LinQuest seeks a Network Subject Matter Expert (SME1) at Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland, to provide expertise in implementing the Army's unified "One Network" vision for Project Manager Tactical Network (PM TN). PM TN designs, modernizes, fields, and supports the U.S. Army's continually evolving tactical network transport and networking capabilities. The systems in the portfolio enable integrated global mission command, and voice, video, and data exchange -- from home station to the tactical edge of the battlefield -- in support of Army, joint, and coalition multi-domain operations. These network transport technologies enable the data-centric network environment that commanders need to retain decision dominance and ensure success on the battlefield against near-peer adversaries. As a Network SME, you will assist in all aspects of network management from design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing systems, including the WIN-Tactical Network, portions of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN), and the Global Information Grid (GIG). You will gather mission needs statements, operational requirements Capability Development Documents (ORCDD), and Capability Production Documents (CPD) and translate these requirements into technical solutions that are standards-based and cost-efficient. Your knowledge and understanding of current and future Force tactical and strategic military communications networks, as well as the architecture, protocols, security, network management, and physics underlying these systems, will be crucial. You will support technical tasks in the integration of Data/Voice/Video in the Tactical Network, engineering and technical documentation, and assistance in the development of technical requirements, specifications, plans, and reports. Your role will also involve software/hardware engineering, preparation of independent assessments, systems engineering, technical expertise at fielding locations, test and evaluation, architectural/interoperability support, and quality engineering. Additionally, you will provide technical support in Tactical Network labs and develop equipment and network configurations and products. Knowledge of virtualization and storage technologies including VMware, EMC, NetApp, Microsoft, Dell, HP, and others is essential. Experience with designing and implementing LANs and VLANs is also required. You will lead and facilitate technical discussions with internal and external organizations.
