About the position

LinQuest seeks a Network Subject Matter Expert (SME II) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, to provide expertise in implementing the Army's unified "One Network" vision for Project Manager Tactical Network (PM TN). PM TN is responsible for designing, modernizing, fielding, and supporting the U.S. Army's continually evolving tactical network transport and networking capabilities. The systems within this portfolio enable integrated global mission command, as well as voice, video, and data exchange from home station to the tactical edge of the battlefield. This is crucial in supporting Army, joint, and coalition multi-domain operations. The network transport technologies developed under this initiative are essential for creating a data-centric network environment that commanders require to maintain decision dominance and ensure success on the battlefield against near-peer adversaries. As a Network SME II, you will be involved in all aspects of network management, from design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing systems. This includes working with the WIN-Tactical Network, portions of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN), and the Global Information Grid (GIG). You will gather mission needs statements, operational requirements Capability Development Documents (ORCDD), and Capability Production Documents (CPD), translating these requirements into technical solutions that are standards-based and cost-efficient. Additionally, you will develop network architecture for adjacent, higher, and lower units, as well as for allied nations, other government agencies, and commercial service interfaces. Your role will also require a deep understanding of current and future Force tactical and strategic military communications networks, including the architecture, protocols, security, network management, and the underlying physics of these systems. You will support technical tasks in the integration of Data/Voice/Video in the Tactical Network, assist in the development of technical requirements, specifications, plans, and reports, and provide technical expertise at fielding locations, test and evaluation, and quality engineering. Furthermore, you will be expected to provide technical support in Tactical Network labs and develop equipment and network configurations and products. Knowledge of virtualization and storage technologies, as well as experience with designing and implementing LANs and VLANs, will be essential for this position.
