Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Network Engineer SME to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD. As a Network Engineer SME, your responsibilities will include installing new releases and system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, and resolving network-related problems. You will perform network system backups and recovery, maintain data files, and monitor system configuration to ensure network integrity. You will also analyze network access trends and resolve bandwidth management issues for mission-critical systems. Your role will involve implementing, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintaining all aspects of LAN/WAN/VPN networks to ensure high availability of parallel development, testing, and production environments. You will collaborate with Software and Database Developers, Windows and Linux Server Administrators, and Security personnel to analyze requirements, troubleshoot anomalies, and determine appropriate firewall configuration implementation. Additionally, you will draft and submit recommended change request proposals necessary for timely mitigation of POA&Ms and CVE findings, while maintaining system compliance with DHS/FISMA IT Security and Information Assurance objectives concerning the privacy of passenger screening information.

Responsibilities

  • Installs new releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve network related problems.
  • Perform Network system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure network integrity.
  • Analyze Network access trends and resolve bandwidth management issues for mission critical systems.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain all aspects LAN/WAN/VPN networks for high availability of parallel development, testing and production environments.
  • Review SNMP alerts, use protocol-line analyzers (sniffers) and conduct log forensics to determine root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues.
  • Collaborate with Software and Database Developers, Windows and Linux Server Administrators and Security personnel to analyze requirements, troubleshoot anomalies and determine appropriate firewall configuration implementation.
  • Draft and submit recommended change request proposals necessary for timely mitigation of POA&Ms and CVE findings.

Requirements

  • 10-12 years of systems administration, network engineering, and systems automation experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline (Education can be substituted for 4 years of experience).
  • Proactive self-starter with exceptional follow up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on individual tasks, as well as team-oriented tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities and work under a cross-matrix management structure.
  • Required to be on-call and respond in a timely manner.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to quickly evolving technology and priority changes.
  • Desire to work closely with other members of the IT/development team.
  • Experience in conducting assessments at an Enterprise level, reviewing technical documentation, conducting interviews and workshops, identifying gaps, and developing tailored solutions.
  • Experience developing, configuring, and delivering COTS solutions in support of enterprise IT infrastructure design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional level certifications from Cisco, Juniper, or other vendors.
  • Network Automation experience.
  • Routing experience to include static routes, EIGRP and route redistribution.
  • Switching experience to include understanding of virtual port-channels (vPC aka MEC), spanning tree, first hop redundancy protocols, and security best practices.
  • Experience with firewall concepts and configurations to include creating/modifying access control lists, network/port address translation, and virtual private networks.
  • Experience with load balancing concepts and configurations to include layer4/layer7, SSL offloading, and health monitoring.
  • Monitoring of all network components via SolarWinds.
