About the position

Join one of GDIT's fastest-growing programs, the US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System eXtended (US BICES-X), which supports DoD intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats. As a Network Engineer Sr Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program. This involves monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software associated with operating systems. You will apply your communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate, and resolve issues, maximizing the benefits of IT systems investments. Additionally, you will mentor, train, guide, and provide oversight to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. In this role, you will collaborate with network staff to ensure the smooth operation of software and systems, working closely with executive team members and stakeholders to define business requirements and resolve systems issues. You will design and define network architecture for new or existing computer systems, perform complex network development and design work, and participate in upgrading operating systems and designing network enhancements. Your responsibilities will also include identifying, analyzing, and resolving network problems, providing specialized training and technical guidance, and conducting new site installations or individual equipment installs. You will maintain current knowledge of relevant technology and participate in special projects as assigned, acting as a facilitator and coordinator between multiple technical specialties to resolve on-site and remote installations, configurations, or incident resolutions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of in-house information systems supporting the USBICES-X program.
  • Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all networked software associated with operating systems.
  • Apply communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.
  • Mentor, train, guide, and provide oversight to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth operation of software and systems.
  • Work with executive team members and stakeholders to define business requirements and resolve systems issues.
  • Design and define network architecture for new or existing computer systems.
  • Perform complex network development and design work.
  • Participate in upgrading operating systems and designing network enhancements.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve network problems.
  • Provide network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Conduct new site installations or individual equipment installs.
  • Design network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (may substitute additional years of experience).
  • Must possess a current CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
  • Must possess a completed CCNA certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire.
  • Cisco experience is a must; Juniper preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast, DMVPN, and GRE tunnels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completed CCNP Routing and Switching or CCNP Enterprise certification.
  • Knowledge and experience with VoIP/collaboration systems.
  • Knowledge of Virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets.
  • Understanding of network virtualization concepts.
  • Microsoft Certifications desired.
  • Win 10 Certification highly desired.
  • Any ITIL or related process experience or certifications desired.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
