About the position

The position functions as a technician for the enterprise infrastructure, primarily focusing on network and telecommunications technology. This includes managing and supporting various hardware and software components such as routers, switches, wireless controllers, firewalls, network access controls, call managers, and unified communications systems. The technician will be responsible for the research, development, implementation, and ongoing support of core network infrastructure and tools that facilitate communication between all IT assets connected to the company's network. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) hardware that supports IT systems across all business areas. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the technician will provide on-call support for the infrastructure environment, which is essential for maintaining critical systems operational 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to achieve organizational objectives. The technician will also be expected to communicate effectively with both technical peers and less technical customers, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network infrastructure, particularly within a healthcare or hospital setting, and will possess the necessary skills to manage complex network environments. This role is remote, allowing for flexibility while still requiring a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support network and telecommunications technology including routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications systems.
  • Research, develop, implement, and support core network infrastructure and tools.
  • Administer Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) hardware for IT systems across all business areas.
  • Provide on-call support for critical systems 24x7x365.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve organizational objectives and share information openly.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of network infrastructure experience.
  • Knowledge of computer/network principles typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification is preferred.
  • Advanced experience with WAN and LAN technologies such as Port Channeling, VLAN, NAT, ACL, QoS, VoIP, and VPN.
  • Proficiency in protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Cisco configuration and troubleshooting skills across multiple platforms including ISR/ASR Routers, Switches, ASA firewalls, and Cisco VoIP/UC solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of remote network administration including installation and troubleshooting.
