About the position

The Enterprise Communications Services 3 (ECS3) program supports our intelligence customer across its CONUS & OCONUS operating locations. Our focus includes the design, transition, operations, and continual service improvement to include tech modernization, tech refresh, and activities associated with customer local area networks (LANs) and unified communication (UC) services. As a Tier 3 Network Engineer, you will be part of a dedicated team that is responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of network services. Your role will involve tackling complex support problems, coordinating with other Network Operations Center (NOC) and operational staff, and leading platform upgrades. You will be expected to develop technical resolution reports for critical outages in the network and ensure that all network operations are conducted according to established procedures. In this position, you will perform system patching and IAVA patches to network routers and switches, conduct IOS and software upgrades, and create or review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for network operations. You will troubleshoot system failures and accessibility problems within the network, monitor network performance, track usage, and develop capacity planning reports. Additionally, you will maintain IP address allocation tables and make recommendations to enhance operational efficiencies for network monitoring and management. Your responsibilities will also include updating knowledge articles, facilitating engineering design data calls, and leading new or enhanced network implementation projects. You will work independently while providing leadership to the rest of the Network team, employing creativity and ingenuity to develop new technical solutions applicable across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with other NOC and operational staff to resolve complex support problems.
  • Lead and perform platform upgrades as part of the Network team.
  • Develop technical resolution reports for critical outages in the network.
  • Perform system patching and IAVA patches to network routers and switches.
  • Conduct IOS and software upgrades for network devices.
  • Create, review, and publish Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for network operations.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and accessibility problems within the network.
  • Monitor network performance, track usage, and develop capacity planning reports.
  • Maintain IP address allocation tables and make recommendations for operational efficiencies.
  • Update knowledge articles and handle 'how to' questions.
  • Support KM management by entering solutions into the Solutions database.
  • Facilitate engineering design data calls for network projects.
  • Lead new/enhanced network implementation and technical refresh projects.
  • Perform network ticket resolution and support closure across Network OPS staff.
  • Complete initial categorization of Service Requests and use administrative access to provision new network devices.
  • Research errors, incidents, and problems using administrative access to network components.
  • Perform root cause analyses and complete problem resolutions associated with incident tickets.
  • Configure, deploy, manage, and maintain network monitoring systems.

Requirements

  • High School/GED + 14 years of experience, or Associates + 12 years, or Bachelors + 10 years, or Masters + 9 years of experience in network engineering.
  • Current IAT II level certifications as per DOD 8570 requirements.
  • Minimum TS/SCI clearance required (can sponsor for a CI Poly).
