About the position

At GDIT, a Network Engineer Tier III provides operational leadership and oversight of transitioning solutions and changes to optimize service and implement the N&NC technical roadmap. The Information Technology (IT) Enterprise Services (NITES) program effort is in direct support of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM). NORAD is a bi-national organization between the United States and Canada, charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning for North America. This role is critical as it involves the detection, validation, and warning of attacks against North America, whether by aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles, through mutual support arrangements with other commands. The NITES program provides a full spectrum of enterprise IT services and management, implementing various Department of Defense (DoD) initiatives, including zero trust at every level. As a Network Engineer Tier III, you will develop, engineer, implement, maintain, and monitor enterprise networks. You will manage operational changes to configurations of network devices, subnets, and IP address allocation for both Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). Your responsibilities will include performing patching and upgrades of network device operating systems and configurations, supporting the testing of patches, upgrades, and configuration changes, and developing Network services Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and knowledge management articles. You will also maintain configurations on network devices, including routers, switches, servers, and appliances, troubleshoot network issues, document resolutions, and support architects in the design, development, and testing of network changes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, engineer, implement, maintain, and monitor enterprise networks.
  • Manage operational changes to configurations of network devices, subnets, and IP address allocation for both LAN and WAN.
  • Perform patching and upgrade of network device operating systems and configurations.
  • Support testing of patches, upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Support development of Network services SOPs and knowledge management articles.
  • Maintain configurations on network devices including routers, switches, servers, and appliances.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and document resolution.
  • Support architects in design, development, and testing of network changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position.
  • 10+ years of related experience in network engineering.
  • Appropriately certified for their designated role in accordance with DoD 8140.01.
  • Possesses a DoD 8140.01 approved baseline certification or higher.
  • Shall obtain and maintain a Computing Environment (CE) certification for the tool or device that accounts for the preponderance of its time: CCNP.
  • Security Clearance Level: DoD Top Secret SCI Clearance Required.
