About the position

As a Network Engineer Intermediate at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), you will play a crucial role in supporting the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) by ensuring the integrity and efficiency of network systems. This position involves installing, configuring, and maintaining local and wide area networks, as well as providing operational support for voice and data communications systems. You will work under the supervision of a Senior Network Engineer and contribute to the advancement of the Department of Defense's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks assigned by Senior Network Engineer.
  • Install, configure, and support local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other data communications systems.
  • Maintain network hardware and software; monitor network availability and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Support projects involving networks and translate business requirements into telecommunications requirements.
  • Provide installation and operational support of voice and data communications hardware and software systems.
  • Design, develop, implement, test, debug, and maintain communications systems.
  • Perform configuration of operating system and security patches; implement incident response procedures during security breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and agency standards.
  • Analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions for efficient operation.
  • Act as lead in defining and executing systems engineering activities within a project.
  • Manage the transition and migration of networks and develop network addressing schemes.
  • Communicate effectively with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience.
  • Assist with research and implementation of enterprise system-wide network solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure and components.
  • Evaluate and monitor health and performance of the network including hardware and management software.
  • Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation for network configuration upgrades.

Nice-to-haves

  • Willingness to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions.
  • Ability to perform moderately strenuous activities such as lifting IT hardware and reaching/bending.
