About the position

The Network Engineer Intermediate position at GDIT involves supporting the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) by ensuring the efficiency and security of network systems. The role requires the installation, configuration, and maintenance of local and wide area networks, as well as providing technical support and solutions to network-related issues. The engineer will work under general supervision and collaborate with senior engineers and government personnel to enhance network capabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other data communications systems.
  • Maintain network hardware and software, ensuring network availability to all users.
  • Monitor network performance and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Provide support for projects involving networks and translate business requirements into telecommunications requirements.
  • Design, develop, implement, test, debug, and maintain communications systems.
  • Perform configuration of operating system and security patches for systems and implement incident response procedures during security breaches.
  • Ensure technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with network engineering responsibilities.
  • Analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions for efficient operation.
  • Act as lead in defining and executing systems engineering activities within projects.
  • Manage the transition and migration of networks and develop network addressing schemes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related experience in network engineering or telecommunications.
  • Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment Certification required prior to support on contract.
  • IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent.
  • CCNA certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with enterprise system-wide network solutions and enhancements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure and components.
  • Experience in developing and executing test plans for network configuration upgrades.
