About the position

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems, ensuring stable, scalable, redundant, and secure network operations. This role involves troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and documentation of statewide networks, while applying industry best practices for security and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure.
  • Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of a statewide network.
  • Developing and analyzing network designs and protocols including prototyping and assessment.
  • Planning, engineering, forecasting, and implementation of network systems.
  • Leading and assisting in major network projects to support capacity growth and upgrades.
  • Evaluating current network systems and recommending changes in maintenance and systems standards.
  • Applying in-depth knowledge of standards and industry trends for LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center, and Cloud networking.
  • Driving improvements in network process, efficiency, and standardization.
  • Ensuring security compliance and adherence to standards.
  • Providing upper tier diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems.
  • Developing comprehensive graphical and text-based documentation.
  • Hosting weekly status meetings with the team.
  • Leading and overseeing activities to resolve end user hardware and software problems.
  • Assisting in the creation of robust network designs and providing ongoing support.
  • Oversight of configuration, maintenance, and documentation of network devices.
  • Reporting project progress and status weekly.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field.
  • Active certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or Security Certification.
  • Ten years of CONUS technical experience in IT networking.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field.
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in Enterprise Infrastructure or Security Certification issued within the last four years.
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) Certification.
  • Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE) Certification from Palo Alto Networks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Layer 2 & 3 optimization and boundary virtual switching systems.
  • Experience with scalable routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF).
  • Experience with Enterprise Data Center and cloud Networking for Virtualization, SDN, Load Balancing, storage.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust Network Access and micro-segmentation.
  • Experience with High Availability in Enterprise.
  • Experience with advanced WAN service layers, SDWANs, and WAN Optimization applications.
  • Familiarity with current Network Security Services applications and appliances.
  • Experience with Enterprise VoIP and physical security environments.
  • Knowledge of Quality-of-Service design and implementation.
  • Experience with Network Management Protocols and Applications.
