About the position

IMG is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support our mission-vital customer in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role involves monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting, and evaluating hardware, software, and other network-related problems. The Network Engineer will provide technical expertise for the performance and configuration of the enclave networks and systems, ensuring optimal operation and reliability. This position requires a proactive approach to network management, including general LAN/CAN/WAN administration, which encompasses the management of switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers. Familiarity with Cisco IOS, F5 BIG-IP, and Palo Alto hardware and software is considered a plus. In addition to daily operational tasks, the Network Engineer will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and executing firmware upgrades and hardware migrations. This includes working closely with all responsible users and external organizations to resolve network or system incidents efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and performance in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots, and evaluates hardware, software, and other network-related problems.
  • Provides technical expertise for performance and configuration of the enclave networks and systems.
  • Performs general LAN/CAN/WAN administration, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and executes firmware upgrades and hardware migrations.
  • Coordinates with all responsible users and external organizations to resolve network or system incidents.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline.
  • Six (6) years of experience applying fundamental skills and concepts using established procedures and standard practices to work problems or limited scope based on detailed instructions from the supervisor or instructor.
  • An additional nine (9) years of experience or an Associate's Degree with seven (7) additional years may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree.
  • Familiarity with the AWS cloud environment, particularly EC2 and VPC.
  • Familiarity with configuring DNS BIND.
  • Familiarity with running common commands in Linux OS.
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation, particularly Ansible, is a plus.
  • DoD 8570 Compliance with IAT level 1 is required.
