About the position

The Network Engineer at Municipal Credit Union is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's LAN/WAN infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient network operations. This role involves installing, configuring, and upgrading network equipment, performing technical analysis, and implementing network-based services and tools. The engineer will also audit network performance, recommend upgrades, and support various network-related projects and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, support, and maintain network devices, firewalls, and high availability architectures.
  • Manage and secure ingress/egress connectivity including IPSEC Tunnels and secure file transfers.
  • Monitor and secure network perimeter layers and applications.
  • Maintain load balancers, external DNS, and DDoS protection services.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation and diagrams.
  • Utilize a ticketing system to track and support users and services.
  • Identify and respond to rogue/malicious activities on the network.
  • Administer VPN and secure remote access solutions.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers as needed.
  • Recommend and perform hardware, software, and network upgrades and installations.
  • Assist in resolving complex problems and complete special projects as assigned.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair activities for network and security devices.
  • Escalate issues to management as required.
  • Provide expert support for LAN/WAN connectivity.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in a Network Engineer level II capacity.
  • Associate Degree or Certificate in Computer Sciences or related technical field, or 5+ years of progressive technical experience.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills and knowledge transfer capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and handle complex issues.
  • Familiarity with hardware and software from Fortinet, Cisco, and other network devices.
  • Ability to adhere to industry best practices for network security architecture.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills for managing multiple projects and tickets.
  • Expertise in Windows Platforms and associated applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies using available resources.
  • Experience in disaster recovery development and testing.
  • Availability for 24x7 support and ability to work in data centers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Unified Communication Solutions, SIP, and PBX systems.
  • Knowledge of SNMP & SIEM products.
