About the position

The Network Engineer role at Verizon involves providing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to USSOCOM, focusing on maintaining network operations and infrastructure. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with extensive knowledge of networking hardware and software, responsible for supporting systems engineering, network design, and implementation, as well as ensuring the overall integration and performance of the enterprise network.

Responsibilities

• Provide Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps).
• Maintain systems and network infrastructure.
• Provide end user and common device support.
• Conduct configuration, change, license, and asset management.
• Perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services.
• Test and analyze elements of network facilities, including power, software, security features, and communications devices.
• Plan, model, simulate, design, install, maintain, manage, and coordinate the network.
• Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources using software and hardware tools.
• Identify and diagnose complex problems affecting network performance.
• Support systems and network engineering and architectural planning services.
• Interface with O&M personnel for design and project support.
• Review existing architectures and recommend improvements.
• Support service integration, database structure management, and active directory services/DNS.
• Provide data storage support within SANs, NAS, iSCSI, and DAS technologies.
• Monitor PKI/certificate authority.
• Support disaster recovery and backup/restore functions.
• Support cybersecurity technology and risk mitigation strategies.
• Maintain LAN, WAN, and VoIP infrastructures, and administer multiprotocol routers and network security devices.
• Establish SATCOM with an emphasis on IP satellite.
• Provide support for Wireless networking, Application delivery networking, Cloud computing, and Mobile computing.
• Work with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation and optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Three or more years of relevant work experience.
• Current DoD security clearance at the TS/SCI level.
• Cisco, Juniper, and/or Aruba Certifications.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in a technical field.
• Excellent communication skills.
