About the position

The Network Engineer position at Davis Unlimited Information Technologies, Inc (DUIT) involves maintaining and sustaining telecommunications networks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of data and voice systems. Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and sustainment of existing networks.
  • Identify and correct network issues.
  • Resolve routine network problems using scripts and standard procedures.
  • Operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators.
  • Monitor data or voice system networks for messages, alarms, or issues.
  • Activate scripts as alarms occur or issues surface.
  • Confirm accuracy of messages, alarms, or issues and determine severity.
  • Initiate resolution as appropriate and escalate when necessary.
  • Research issues to determine if they can be resolved using predefined procedures.
  • Document results of troubleshooting efforts.
  • Communicate occurrences of alarms or issues and actions taken to resolve them.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance routines according to standard procedures.
  • Activate/deactivate network lines according to established schedules.
  • Interface with users and/or network vendors.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of experience in telecommunications network engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, or four (4) years of additional network engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • An IAT level II baseline certification is required.
  • CCNA or equivalent certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • CompTIA Network+, CCENT, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certifications are preferred.
  • Experience with installation and configuration of network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, and cabling.
  • Experience supporting WAN technologies such as SONET, DS3, and T1.
  • Experience with MPLS, BGP, and VPNs.
