About the position

The Network Engineer II position is a critical role within the Technology team, responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of the company's network and voice systems. This role involves direct interaction with users to resolve issues efficiently, maintaining and improving the technology infrastructure, and participating in client onboarding and offboarding processes. The engineer will also be involved in creating and maintaining network designs, developing technical documentation, and collaborating with other technicians to mitigate future issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line technical support to users and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Practice strong client service to enhance relationships with clients.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and recommend improvements for technology infrastructure.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology and research industry best practices.
  • Gain and maintain certifications in assigned areas of expertise.
  • Coordinate with other technicians to resolve network and voice-related issues.
  • Monitor and proactively resolve issues before they reach a critical state.
  • Participate in client onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Create and maintain basic to moderately complex networks for internal and external clients with moderate guidance.
  • Assist in the development of technical network design documents.
  • Provide initial unit testing of all system changes to ensure a stable production environment.
  • Create knowledge articles related to issue resolution and maintain IT processes and procedures.
  • Assist project team members in developing scope documents and project estimates.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and business associates to build trust and successful partnerships.
  • Track all documentation and communications related to projects and tasks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience supporting Cisco network environments.
  • 3+ years' experience supporting and administering Cisco phone systems.
  • Experience with deployment and support of Meraki devices.
  • Exceptional client service orientation.
  • Moderate knowledge of network topologies and networking components including routers, switches, VPN concentrators, and firewalls.
  • Moderate understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic cabling issues.
  • Strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, networking, and PC operating systems.
  • Competence in diverse technology skills, including desktop support, network/server/voice infrastructure design, modifications, and LAN/WAN administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into technical issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • High level of self-motivation and keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
