About the position

Kforce has a client seeking a Network Engineer in Madison, WI. The Network Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure devices and applications. This role requires ensuring that all network devices comply with industry best practices and adhere to internal security policies. The Network Engineer will follow published policies for device patching and security vulnerability remediation, maintaining an asset inventory of network devices and support contracts. A deep understanding of networking protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF is essential, along with providing tier one and tier two support. The position also involves managing relationships with service providers, VARs, and software/infrastructure vendors. In terms of security, the Network Engineer must adhere to vendor best practices and compliance requirements. They will be tasked with developing an automation strategy for patch and device configuration delivery that aligns with the credit union's defined objectives for operation and security. Understanding intrusion prevention and detection systems is crucial, as is following established incident response plans and standards. The role requires the professional handling of obscene or offensive material, ensuring that all actions are compliant with company policies. The effectiveness of the technical operations and their impact will be measured through adherence to internal and external metrics. The Network Engineer will support a culture of transparency by developing and publishing metrics on overall team performance and system effectiveness relative to company objectives and norms.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure devices and applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT-related field and four years of IT experience, or five years of progressive professional Information Technology experience and demonstrated strong technical acumen through technical certification.
  • Training and certification in Microsoft, AWS, and networking is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  • Working knowledge of Azure, Active Directory, and management techniques for both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of various virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with Splunk or Elastic is preferred.
