About the position

The Network Engineer position is responsible for building and administering the network infrastructure related to information technology within a group that manages data center, network, data, voice, and telephony systems. This role requires expert knowledge in specialized network technologies and involves responding to outages within established service level agreements (SLAs). The engineer will also support monthly Saturday maintenance and off-hours software deployments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Build new infrastructure including data center, wireless and wired network, data, load balancing, voice, telephony, wiring, and UPS.
  • Maintain network and systems by managing product and capabilities roadmaps and establishing maintenance procedures.
  • Perform infrastructure monitoring by setting up and monitoring alerts, events, notifications, and reports on network environments.
  • Respond to tier 2 service desk tickets and production outages according to SLA and procedure.

Requirements

  • 8 - 9 years of experience in network engineering.
  • Expertise in Routing and Switching (8+ years).
  • Experience with IP Telephony (3+ years).
  • Firewall Maintenance experience (5+ years).
  • Experience with Load balancers (4+ years).
  • Proficiency in Linux or Windows OS (3+ years).
  • Experience with MS networking (3+ years).
  • Knowledge of Storage systems (3+ years).
  • Experience in Virtualized environments (3+ years).
  • Experience in Network and System Monitoring (3+ years).
  • Scripting experience (3+ years).

Nice-to-haves

  • Wireless Network technology experience, especially with Cisco and management controllers.
  • Experience with Cisco phone systems.
  • Familiarity with Cisco UCS.
  • Knowledge of Network Security practices.
  • Experience implementing QoS initiatives for video and voice communications.
  • Experience with BGP implementation and support.
  • Firewall administration and configuration expertise.
  • Understanding of communications/telecommunications circuits.
  • Experience building and maintaining networks compliant with NIST, FISMA, and other standards.
