About the position

The Network Engineer position at Southern Westchester BOCES involves providing hands-on technology support for local and wide area computer networks within a school district. The role requires troubleshooting various classroom technologies and network issues, coordinating service calls, and exercising independent judgment in problem-solving. The candidate will work closely with end users and district executives, ensuring effective communication and support for technology needs.

Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the local and wide area computer network and operating systems for a school district.
• Provide daily hands-on technology support, performing high-level repairs for network and technology problems.
• Coordinate responses to service calls from municipal or school buildings and troubleshoot network issues over the phone.
• Exercise independent judgment in the performance of duties related to network support.
• Supervise positions responsible for providing technical support for the installation and maintenance of computers and networks.
• Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities and other service providers within the school district.

Requirements

• Current/active certification as either a Certified Novell Engineer (CNE), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
• Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years' experience managing LAN and/or WAN networks, or seven (7) years' experience in a similar role.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience troubleshooting classroom technologies such as Chromebooks, PCs, and Smart Boards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
