About the position

Our dynamic and innovative engineering firm is seeking a seasoned Consulting Network Engineer to join our team. This position is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment. As a Consulting Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network infrastructure systems for our diverse clientele. You will be the go-to expert for all network-related challenges and will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of our clients' network systems. In this role, you will be tasked with designing and implementing new network solutions while also improving the efficiency of current networks. You will install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP. Additionally, you will procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved with network installation. Your expertise will be essential in configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security. You will also be responsible for maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting, arranging scheduled upgrades, and investigating faults in the network. Analyzing, troubleshooting, and correcting network problems both remotely and on-site will be a key part of your responsibilities. Maintaining a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking (LAN) and Wide Area Networking (WAN) is crucial, as is liaising with customers to offer technical support and professional advice on networking issues. Conducting regular network performance tests will also be part of your duties.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a network engineering or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of networking technologies, network hardware, protocols, and services.
• Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
• Strong, hands-on experience with diagnostic, network analytics, and network optimization tools.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts, both to customers and to team members.
• Strong customer service ethos and a proactive approach.
• Relevant professional certifications (such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, etc.) are highly desirable.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
