As a Network Engineer at Actalent, you will be responsible for providing daily operational support, which includes data transfer, equipment setup, and the installation and maintenance of both software and hardware. Your role will involve integrating various modeling and simulation tools into the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) environment to ensure they operate compatibly in both standalone and integrated modes, maintaining consistent scenarios throughout. You will be tasked with maintaining the MS&A environment, which includes both classified and unclassified systems, and your work will range from network implementation to the activation of discrete data circuits using existing military or commercial communication systems. You will work with a variety of hardware, including optical devices, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Ethernet, Synchronous Optical Networks (SONET), as well as digital and analog devices, servers, routers, bridges, hubs, concentrators, switches, and firewalls. Your responsibilities will also include designing and installing MS&A network systems in compliance with Communications Security (COMSEC), Emission Security, and other Information Assurance (IA) guidelines. It is crucial to ensure that disaster recovery and continuity of operations are integral parts of the system architecture process. In addition to installing new hardware and software upgrades, you will be responsible for ensuring that license renewals and annual maintenance are kept current. You will provide enterprise and off-site support to ensure the continuous availability of MS&A systems, manage and operate a configuration management program, and ensure compliance with applicable directives, policies, and guidelines. Your role will also involve designing, testing, and implementing a robust, reliable, and secure IT environment that ensures the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of data. You will conduct annual reviews, updates, certifications, and reaccreditations for all classified and unclassified network systems, stand-alone systems, Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems, and mission systems. Keeping the ZA VTCs, ZA MS&A networks, and mission system projects up-to-date will be part of your duties. You will assist government officials in scheduling and conducting Staff Assistance Visits and conduct re-inspections of units with findings from initial visits. Additionally, you will perform annual reviews of applicable IA controls, conduct validation procedures, and report any deviations from the certification and accreditation posture. Your research and analysis will assess the ZA IA security posture and the impact of new systems, devices, and programs, while follow-up Internet Security Scans will ensure that vulnerabilities are mitigated. You will work closely with the Integrated Network Operations and Security Center (I-NOSC) West to document and/or remove negative findings, conduct initial scans for software and hardware devices pending network connections, and monitor and maintain the Vulnerability Management System by entering all closed Technical Compliance Network Orders into the Defense Information Systems Agency database and closing out SCAP and ACAS scan findings.
