About the position

The Network Engineer at ALG Senior LLC will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the company's expanding network infrastructure. This position focuses on creating scalable and highly available network architectures that align with ALG's objectives, ensuring optimal performance and system integrity across various network environments.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, WAPs, Virtualization)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems, infrastructure performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies for all network equipment
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Work with vendors, AASC Operations, and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization
  • Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources
  • Secure network systems by enforcing policies established by the CIO, and defining and monitoring access
  • Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
  • Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects
  • Responsible for configuration of routing and switching equipment
  • Responsible for configuration of hosted IP voice services
  • Responsible for basic configuration of firewalls
  • Manage capacity and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within the data center
  • Liaise with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis
  • Communicate with physicians and staff via email and phone for initial requirement capture

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
  • MCSE, CCNP or proven experience
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols and OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices
  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
