Spry Squared is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team and provide comprehensive support in all facets of network management. This role encompasses the entire lifecycle of network systems, from initial design and implementation to ongoing maintenance and upgrades of existing networks. The Network Engineer will be responsible for analyzing design specifications and related documents to ensure that communication system requirements are met, particularly in a software engineering environment. This position requires a deep understanding of network characteristics, including traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput. The engineer will troubleshoot network issues and recommend necessary modifications or procurements of network components to enhance performance and reliability. In this role, the Network Engineer will conduct thorough investigations and diagnostics of network and telecommunications system incidents and problems. They will identify and document workaround solutions for errors and apply these solutions according to established methods and procedures. The engineer will also be responsible for applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes to maintain optimal system performance. Additionally, the installation and configuration of new network and telecommunications systems hardware and software will be a key responsibility. The Network Engineer will analyze system logs to identify potential issues and initiate corrective actions as needed. They will perform regular backups of network systems and monitor performance, responding to any anomalies according to documented procedures. The role also involves building network and telecommunications systems for deployment, conducting testing, and preparing systems for shipping. The engineer will create and maintain detailed diagrams and configuration documentation for all network and telecommunications systems. Security is a critical aspect of this role, as the Network Engineer will configure, test, install, troubleshoot, and maintain security devices such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptographic devices, and routers. They will ensure that the desired security posture is achieved and maintained. Furthermore, the engineer will provide monitoring support for accredited network and telecommunications systems to ensure compliance with Certification and Accreditation standards. The role also includes configuring, testing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining various telecommunications systems, including Plain Old Telephone (POTs) systems, VoIP systems, Video Teleconference (VTC) systems, and Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) systems. Finally, the engineer will perform module, unit, subsystem, and system-level testing following documented methods and procedures.
